Two New Anti-Cancer Molecules Discovered In Turmeric, After 10 Years Of Research By Indian Scientists

Scientists from the Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV), Bhopal stated they were motivated by turmeric, since it is a time-tested medicine. “Inspired by the soothing stuffs of turmeric, which is accessible in every family and is measured to be an effective antibacterial that can be given to nearly everybody to cure several wounds, we have examined it extremely for just about 10 long years and revealed two new molecules,” said Vice Chancellor of RGPV, Professor Piyush Trivedi.

Their research assisted them discover two new anti-carcinogenic molecules, code named CTR-17 and CTR-20

“The molecules produce anticancer movement through a mechanism that contains blockade of cancer cell division by preventing tubulin, a protein which is significant for many key cellular functions, including chromosome separation during cell division, intracellular transport, expansion and preservation of cell shape, cell motility and delivery of molecules on cell tissues,” said doctoral student Dr. C. Karthikeyan.

“They are original and unique in the intellect that they are different from other cancer drugs, which have major side-effects, especially when one experiences chemotherapy. These molecules aim and terminate only cancerous cells and cause no damage to other energetic cells of the body,” adds Professor Trivedi.

The study was carried out in association with Canada-based Advanced Medical Research Institute’s Dr. Hyoun Lee’s crew and a US provisional patent application has been formally filed to protect intellectual stuff rights.
