Facebook Is Going To Launch New Iconic Like Button
The new emoji-charged alternative to Facebook’s Like button is slated to be launched worldwide next week, the tech firm said on 27 January. Reactions will not replace the Like button; instead it will be added as an extension feature. Users can click loving, wow-ing, or expressing kindness to posts on Facebook by long-pressing the Like button wherever they see it.
Facebook’s chief product officer Chris Cox, is the man who given an idea about the creation of iconic reactions. The new emoji focused team, led by Cox, had collected a list of the most recorded user responses and divided them accordingly, to gear up with five key expressive responses: sad, angry, haha, wow and love. Initially Facebook had also considered counting “yay” to the list but cut the idea later, claiming that “it was not generally understood.” The social network started testing “responses” in Spain and Ireland in October of last year.
Many Facebook users have been requesting for a “dislike” button for years. Though, Facebook excluded the idea since it was measured too negative.
